morning glory　朝顔

The third piece in my portfolio is a Morning Glory featured in Healing Nights.

The purple flowers currently blooming next door are also Morning Glories, but they belong to the round-leaved variety, which is commonly grown in Western countries.

In Japan, however, the Morning Glory most closely associated with summer is a different variety, recognized by its leaves with three or five pointed lobes.

I also created an illustration of this traditional Japanese Morning Glory to celebrate its distinctive beauty.
