The Siren's Lament I was influenced by the illustrations of Junichiro Tanizaki's “The Mermaid's Lament, The Magician” (1919). The mermaids in Mizushima Niou's illustrations are beautiful. My paintings are strongly influenced by his work. He is one of the artists I would like to paint like someday. I would like to see his new works, but he has already passed away. So I have no choice but to paint by myself.
